My own photos
Ocean Drive in Kennebunkport, Maine
As summer gradually gives way to fall and the sun sets earlier every day, the clouds reflect soft shades of pink much like this hydrangea. Another admirer said that the blooms are white all summer and turn pink as the August nights become cooler. Maybe it's Mother Nature's reminder to savor these last few weeks of summer.

Oh how I love Kennebunkport. My husband and I spent our 10th wedding anniversary there at the White Barn Inn - such an incredible place!
ReplyDeleteHi sweetie, I adore hydrangeas no matter how they look. Beautiful photos. Fall may be coming on the calendar but it will still be hot where I am. Have a lovely Sunday. xx's

Gorgeous photos of the hydrangea. They caught my eye from Janet's blog roll. I was just up in the same area of Maine two times this week and posted on Snug Harbor Farm today. I'll do another post on the antique shops in a few days. I've been to Withington before but didn't stop there this time around. I'll add your other places to my list. Steve
ReplyDeleteHydrangeas are one of my very favorites. Unfortunately it has been so hot this year mine have not faired so well. Stop by and check out my giveaway. I think you will like it.
ReplyDeleteQuite possibly the Hydrangea is "Blushing Bride". It is quite beautiful as it fades to pale pink. The name is quite appropriate. These photos are wonderful. What a great place to get away. I spent a week at the Islesboro Inn many years ago. It was later sold to Cristy Alley as a summer home. The sunsets there are spectacular.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love the color of hydrangeas this time of year. My hydrangeas were actually the inspiration for the color palette in my bathroom redo.
ReplyDeleteThese images are glorious!

Thank you all for your comments. There is a long hedge of these hydrangeas on Ocean Drive and the property owners (or their landscapers), seem to take very good care of them. They are so lush and I've never seen so many of them all together. It's hard to believe summer is almost over, but the fall is such a nice time of year too around here.

How do the ladies of Cape Cod keep their dried hydrangeas from fading? They spray them with something...what is it? Shiree'
ReplyDeletei would love to be close enough to hydrangeas to take a picture.
ReplyDeleteyou lucky girl.

Those are just beautiful...I wish I could get them to grow in my yard...
ReplyDeleteYou captured their beauty quite well Deborah, simply breathtaking!
ReplyDeleteThose were beautiful weren't they! They continue to go towards a papery brown at the end of their days. I love hydrangeas....I have a bunch of them in my garden area. I'm counting the days to see them again!
